2013 crop green house strawberries in Shandong province, China still high
After the Spring Festival 2013, the price level of the green house strawbrries in Shandong province, China has not dropped much comparing to the level at same period 2012.
The main green house strawberries grow in Junan and Tancheng, Linyi in Shandong prinvince, harvest time lasts from November to May-June of next year, the price level of the fresh raw materials is about RMB 5.0 per 500g, much higher than RMB 2.0 per 500g of 2012 crop.
Even the planting area of the strawberries has not decreased, but the yield has dropped by 40-50%, and more misshapen fruits come out, due to the bad weather last winter such as lasting cold temperature, heavy fog, heavy storm, less of sunshine etc.
The first round of the strawberries is ending, and the next round of the strawberries will be available from end March. We expect a better harvest at that time.
